Music Ministry

Music Ministry

Holy Family parish – comprising both Holy Family Church and St Joseph’s Church, has a growing and active Music Ministry. The goal of our Music Ministry is the full, conscious and active participation of all the faithful in the liturgies of the Church.

We are blessed to have 7 music groups across the two churches. Each group has its own leader/coordinator, its own style, rehearsal time and members. However, we all strive to follow the guidelines and teachings of the Church in regards to Liturgical music. A new initiative for the Music Ministry has been to come together as a ‘combined choir’ for larger liturgical celebrations, once or twice a year. This is something we hope to continue developing into the future.

The groups are as follows, providing the Music Ministry for the Masses mentioned:

St Joseph’s Church

St Joseph’s Church Choir: every 7.30am Sunday Mass
St Joseph’s Church 5pm Choir: every 5pm Sunday Mass

Holy Family Church

Holy Family Youth Group: 1st Sat of the month
Santo Nino Choir: 1st and 5th Sun and 3rd Sat of the month
Joseph Marello Choir (Children’s Choir): 2nd Sat and 3rd Sun of the month
9.30am Ladies Choir: 2nd and 4th Sun of the month
St Joseph’s College Choir: 4th Sat of the month (Family Mass)

Formation and training

We provide opportunities for formation and training for all of our music ministry members. For example, recently, 4 of our members attended the national Conference of the Australian Pastoral Musicians Network, in Sydney. Parish based formation also occurs, including at combined rehearsals, liturgical season information sheets and resources for all groups and more.
